“If you want to go fast … go alone. If you want to go far … go together.”
Whether you are at the beginning of your spiritual journey, in the middle, or toward the end, we are all called to walk that journey with others. We need to walk together. We need some friends that will walk with us.
In short, we need to connect with others. At Southport Church, we connect with others primarily through Journey Groups and through Life Groups.
Are short-term groups that occur three times per year. The groups meet for 4 – 12 weeks and are generally based around some material that is studied and discussed. The groups formed meet on various nights and cover material at various levels of understanding.
The purpose of Journey Groups is more than just learning new information; the purpose helps provide an avenue for friendships to be formed.
Life Transformation Groups
LTGs for short are groups of 2 – 5 people that covenant together to meet periodically for the purposes of encouraging each other and affirming each other on their discipleship journey. In addition, members of LTGs will hold each other accountable for “going on…” to perfection (as John Wesley would say). (“Going on to perfection” is continuing our discipleship journey, moving toward Christlikeness in our loving God and loving neighbor.)
