Mark Fisher has served as the Senior Pastor of Southport United Methodist Church since January of 2002. Before moving to Southport, Pastor Mark served for 10 years at Mt. Comfort UMC in Hancock County.
Mark and Susan were married in 1973. Susan is a special needs teacher for several grade levels. Mark and Susan have two children, Beth Anne and Jonathan. Beth Anne lives in Indianapolis and attends IUPUI in the pre-med program. Beth Anne is long-term goal is to use her medical skills in missions work. Jon is an United States Marine who is stationed at Quantico Marine Base in northern Virginia. He resides with his wife Rachel, daughter Bethany and son Jack near Stafford, Virginia. Rachel also serves in the Marine Corps.
Pastor Mark believes that a call to follow Jesus will result in being involved in ministry. Pastor Mark has a great desire to help people grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to assist them to discover their passion for ministry and be set free to be in service. Pastor Mark is a visionary leader who believes that the church of Jesus Christ should always be finding new and innovative ways to make an impact on the community. He believes that the church is called to be relevant in the context of the 21st century.
Chris Stephens has served as the Associate Pastor of Southport United Methodist Church since July of 2011. He was an intern at Southport United Methodist in the summer of 2003 and since then has served at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Honey Creek United Methodist Church, and Irving Park United Methodist Church in Chicago, IL. He is originally from Speedway, IN and he holds a bachelor degree from the University of Indianapolis. He met his lovely wife Michelle at seminary and they are both graduates of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. They were married in 2009.
Chris has been serving God since his mother stood him up on a piano bench at the age of four to sing Christmas carols to the residents at the nursing home where she worked. Since then he has been proclaiming the grace of God through word and song. He brings a creative approach to preaching and teaching that is centered in the transformative power of God’s love in the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Greg Cook has been a member of SUMC since 1999. Before serving in his current position, Pastor Greg served as Director of Equipping Ministry.
Greg and his wife, Becky, have been married since 1998. They were childhood sweethearts who have been miraculously reunited after a 35 year absence from one another.
Pastor Greg believes in the miraculous healing power of Jesus to glorify God. He believes that God has given every individual special gifts to empower us to make disciples of Jesus for the transformation of the world
